Welcome to 4 Our Military!!

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Michelle and I am an avid supporter of our Military. Here, I will be blogging about everything I have going on in the way of supporting our troops. If you too are involved in supporting our troops, I would love to hear what you are doing in your community. For the past three years, I have been a volunteer for an organization called 'Adopt A US Soldier'. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that allows you to sign up to "adopt" a soldier that is deployed and in need of some support. If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. Please direct all mail to MDawn213@aol.com. Thank you all for your support!!

Project Frontlines (Project #1 that I am currently working on)

Project Frontlines is one of the two projects that I am currently working on. This was started by Kylie Johnson and Mark Klodzinski. We then worked together and have made it an official part of 'Adopt A US Soldier'. What is Project Frontlines? We have a unit in Afghanistan that is in a very remote location. Through Project Frontlines, these men and women in uniform will receive donations from supporters around the world. For more information or to donate, please visit the Adopt A US Soldier website. We have just received a HUGE donation of 1,500 bags of coffee and it is going to cost A LOT to ship over to our troops. PLEASE consider donating for shipping costs. Every amount counts!

Coffee is on it's way....

Good morning everyone! I heard from the trucking company that is bringing the coffee, and it will be here Monday!!! Yay!! Between 9am and 4pm. I am excited!! Right now, I am trying to figure out what would be the easiest and cheapest way to ship it, but I don't think that I will know until I actually get it here and will be able to see exactly what I am working with. By the way, the dispatcher at the trucking company told me just how much coffee there is....653 pounds!!!!! 2 pallets! I am so grateful to Rogers Family Coffee Company for donating all this coffee! If you are looking to buy coffee, please buy from them! The coffee is really good, and who doesn't want to support a company that supports our troops?!? Well...that is about it for now. Time to get ready to start the day! Hope everyone has a great one!!

The start of my online journey

Hi everyone! Well...I am officially writing my first post on my new blog, and I'm kind of excited!! I've got a couple different things going on at the moment and I'm excited to share with you all. First, we have 'Operation Frontlines'. This is a new venture that Adopt A US Soldier has started, with much thanks to Kylie & Mark :) It allows supporters to send a one time care package to our heroes. Many times, we have supporters that are not able to commit to a year of support, so we are now offering the opportunity for people to still show their support by sending a one time care package or letter. The other project that I am working on right now is welcoming home a unit of soldiers on Fort Stewart in Georgia. I am still talking with the FRSA, but our goal is to make a welcome home basket for all of the 201 singles soldiers. These baskets will include personal hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, soap, deoderant, etc), towels, wash cloths, sheets, pillows, and blankets. After being in the conditions they were in for a year, I think it's time they come home to some comfort!! This is quite an undertaking, so any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Off to bed I go! Lots to do tomorrow :)
